51³ÉÈËÁÔÆæ

The scent of simmering curry and cooking rice filled the Student Center Kitchen at 51³ÉÈËÁÔÆæ on Saturday afternoon, May 3, as 51³ÉÈËÁÔÆæ students and members of the local Japanese community gathered to cook, connect, and celebrate International Food Day.

Max Harvey-Wilson ’23 had the desire to learn Japanese and study in Japan since high school.

At 51³ÉÈËÁÔÆæ, students studying Languages have the opportunity to apply their studies in the broader Bennington community by teaching languages and cultures—including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish—at Bennington Elementary and the Village School of North Bennington (VSNB).

While students embark on Field Work Term, an annual work-learning term during which students gain hands-on experience and test their classroom ideas in the world of work, Bennington faculty offer their reading recommendations to keep everyone’s intellectual juices flowing wherever they are.
