3 Houses, 3 Sites

ARC4150.01
Course System Home Terms Fall 2014 3 Houses, 3 Sites

Course Description

Summary

Using the constraints of a minimal house, students will design three dwellings for three distinct sites: A single, detached house in rural Vermont; a two-family in town; and a six story walk-up in New York City. In each project, the site analysis and mapping will provide the fundamental tools for developing spatial organization, form, materials, and orientation. Each proposal will be presented with fully developed design drawings and models. In addition to studio assignments, weekly readings will be assigned that expand on the themes of the history of dwelling, landscape and architecture.
