Course Description

Summary

Digital Technique for Architects is a 2-credit co-requisite of Prof Donald Sherefkin鈥檚 course Bennington Campus: Real and Imagined. This lab-based course will cover a range of digital techniques specific to architectural practice, from 2D drafting and the production of scaled drawing sets, to 3D NURBS surface modelling and 3D printing. Dovetailing with the assignments given in 51成人猎奇: Real and Imagined, students will develop foundational approaches to perspective and projected digital drawing in the first half of the semester, and explore to 3D modelling and digital fabrication in the later weeks. Assignments will build up student fluency in Rhinoceros, an industry standard 3D modelling program used by architects, designers, and artists. The term will culminate in a final projects that examine 51成人猎奇鈥檚 history of unbuilt architecture through a series of physical models, fabricated using laser cutting, CNC milling, and 3D printing technologies. Corequisite: Bennington Campus: Real and Imagined with Donald Sherefkin Registration: Students will register online only for Digital Technique for Architects. On May 17, the Registrar鈥檚 Office will register all students enrolled in Digital Technique for Architects, in the corequisite course Bennington Campus: Real and Imagined.
