Course System Home Terms Fall 2017 Movement Practice: Beginning Dance Technique

Course Description

Summary

This beginning dance technique course requires no previous dance training. We will begin with a warm-up focusing on our body鈥檚 relationship to gravity and basic alignment principles, and we will progress to more spacious movement pathways, patterns and scores. We will pay special attention to coordination, drawing on systems such as Ideokinesis, Chi Kung (Qi Gong), yoga, and Alexander Technique. We will look to experience and refine movement both in the internal space of our bodies and in collaboration with the external space around us. This class will offer situations for experimentation with both improvisation and set movement material.
