Course Description

Summary

Individual private lessons for advanced students, with focus on the classical repertoire. Students will meet with the instructor weekly on scheduled class days, at times to be arranged with the instructor. Two excused absences permitted, with every effort made for make-up lessons. Daily practice is expected, and participation in Tuesday evening music workshop and performance at the end-of-term recital are required.

Lessons are tailored to each student鈥檚 abilities, experience, aspirations, strengths and needs. Students will work on repertoire to be chosen in consultation with the instructor.

Learning Outcomes

  • The course will focus on: physical aspects of playing the piano to improve facility, efficiency, ease and control of sound; discovering and communicating the emotional content of the repertoire; practice habits and techniques; and theory and reading.

Prerequisites

Students are accepted by audition. Contact the instructor to arrange for an audition.
