Course Description

Summary

In this course, we will focus on the specific dance in many areas of Africa including: Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cote d鈥橧voire. We will study the movement history and meaning behind these different cultural styles and work to understand the many different stories that inform them. Students will be expected to research the use of costume and instruments. Furthermore, through movement, we will explore the different traditional and modern practices.
