This class uses movement and the principles of the Alexander Technique to prepare the body for making sound. It is designed for singers, actors, dancers, or anyone interested in using their body as an instrument. Our goal is to root sound in the body before the mind gets in the way. Class begins with gentle movements on the floor, sitting and standing to develop physical awareness and ease, and over the term will progress to vocal warmups, spatial games, and exercises that allow the free flow of air, vibration, resonance, and emotion.

Modern Guitar is a one on one private lesson.  Occasionally if two students are about the same level the class will accommodate two students at a time.

It is expected that a firm grasp of all the concepts taught in Beginning and Intermediate Guitar are fully understood.

If you haven鈥檛 taken these classes you would have to audition to receive the instructors permission to demonstrate skills.

Language Documentation, Revitalization, and Reclamation — LIN4115.01

This course addresses the theories, methods, ethics, and actual outcomes of language documentation, revitalization, and reclamation work. Students will examine the causes and consequences of language endangerment, strategies for revitalization, and community-led initiatives in reclaiming linguistic and cultural heritage. Case studies from around the world will provide insight into real-world applications of language work and the diversity in form that this work takes depending on context.
