In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of observing the night sky with a telescope. This course will teach how to find the basic constellations and how to use both manual and computerized telescopes to point at celestial objects in the night sky. While there will be some classroom time to teach fundamental concepts, the vast majority of the class will consist of practical, hands-on time with telescopes at Stickney Observatory.

Each Practice + Process course is designed around the research/pedagogic interests of the faculty member leading the class. The overall curricular structure positions studio practice, creative process and critical reading, thinking and languaging as integrated elements within one course, enabling students to move between modes of learning, reflection and making.

In the student's final semester, students in the must upload their Personal Arts Practice Portfolio as part of the requirements for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Expressive Arts concentration. This portfolio will consist of documentation of the student's engagement with expressive arts over the course of their study within the program, including but not limited to expressive arts products submitted as demonstrations of learning, personal expressive arts engagement, and other works engaged as part of their development throughout their time in the program.
