Course Description

Summary

In this course, we will draw/write/read ways to consider and make music and sound. This is a class for all artists (music, theater, visual arts, film & video, dance, animation, critical studies) who are interested in making and notating their own sounds, but might not have experience (or limited experience) with formal music studies or sound design. 

No formal music experience or reading music is required, but musicians looking for new ways to compose and perform will also benefit from taking this course. Topics: I. RHYTHM, METER, TEMPO, TIMELINE  ll. COLOR, HARMONICS, VIBRATION, AND RESONANCE lll. TIME AND SPACE.

  • Interact with sound and visuals in multi-modal ways.
  • Incorporate effective sound/music/noise design into your own projects
  • Effectively communicate information and ideas about sound with musicians, directors and designers.
