Course Description

Summary

The majority of children in the world today are growing up in multilingual environments. In this advanced research course, you will read and discuss classic and current research into the ways that language status, i.e. monolingualism or bilingualism, shapes brain development and memory storage. With a classmate, you will present research findings twice during the semester, and you will develop a testable hypothesis related to our readings. The class as a whole will select a hypothesis to test behaviorally and using wireless EEG technology, and you will contribute to the data analyses. This course will also include an overview of research design principles, and you will complete an online ethics certification before collecting any data.
