Course Description

Summary

In this course students will compose a substantial work for one solo instrument with electroacoustic accompaniment. Class will meet twice a week and will be team taught. In Tuesday鈥檚 session we will review the history of compositions involving acoustic instruments with electronics and there will be technical instruction in the electronic music studio. On Thursdays, we will have further listening sessions, discussion of the student compositions in progress, focusing particularly on the instrumental component and its notation. Compositions will be performed in a culminating concert. Students must have good notational skills.

Prerequisites

Beginning on the first day of registration, interested students should contact Allen Shawn by email or in person, and should submit examples of their previous work.
