Course Description

Summary

No previous experience in dance or movement practice is required. This course is open to any students who are interested in investigating a relationship between their impulses and movements, and the physical embodiment of transformation. By studying some principles and practices of butoh, which originated in Japan as a contemporary avant-garde dance form, we aim to liberate ourselves from pre-fixed images of our bodies and search for alternate and original ways of approaching the body, movement and being.
