Course Description
Summary
Wake up your body and mind through a series of moving meditations and stretches using QiGong, the breath, visualizations, and touch that will stimulate the meridian system and activate a relaxed focus for the day. We will soften pathways in the body with circles, spirals, figure eights and undulating waveforms. QiGong theory, principles and cosmology will be covered with a pointed focus on the seasonal quality shift from Winter into Spring and the elements Water and Wood that will span the duration of the course. Major acupoints will be identified while learning a Liver Cleanse, Tonifaction and Crane Walking Steps in the Soaring Crane QiGong Tradition. QiGong is practiced to open the meridian system of the body for physical as well as mental well-being. There are many forms of QiGong that have been practiced for thousands of years and are an integral part of Chinese Medicine. Additionally, self-massage techniques and Thai Yoga partner stretches will be employed to relieve tension and promote flexibility. This class is open to everyone; no prior movement or meditation experience is required.Corequisites
